This is one of a interesting sermons i’ve heard in ma life..And i heard it in my Today’s morning Service.Miriam ,Moses and Aaron were siblings in a same family ,yet they had differences in them.My pastor spoke about this beautifully today.let me provide a Gist of his sermon
1.MIRIAM: She was the eldest of the siblings .Though she was anointed by God to be a prophetess(Exodus 15:20),But she departed away from her calling by exalting her self and by pleasing her own “self”,by saying ( ‘Hath the LORD indeed spoken only with Moses? hath He not spoken also with us?-Numbers 12:2’) when both her and Aaron spoke against moses for Marrying a Ethiopian Women.But in the consequent verses in the chapter we can Find How God gave Testimony regarding moses,explaining how special MOSES was to HIm,and what wrong they did by speaking Against him and the punishment (Miriam became leprous –Numbers 1210) :that followed them for that.
So, we must not indulge in doing things to please our own or in other words to say to “exalt and praise our own self” like Miriam did..it’ll lead to condemnation and punishment from God finally, as it happened to Miriam.
2.MOSES: Moses was chosen to be the Leader of Israel by God to bring back Israel from slavery and Bondage.Moses has received a testimony from God’s own voice(Numbers 12:3,Numbers 12:7-8).And in Hebrews 11:24-31 Apostle paul describes about the faith of Moses especially in 25th verse “chosing rather to suffer affliction with ppl of GOD,than to enjoy the pleasure of sin for a season ” and in 26th verse paul continues” Esteeming the reproach of christ greater riches than treasures in Egypt” ..so,This passage description of paul about Moses means that,Moses chose to please GOD by suffering for Him ,and doing His will..rather than enjoying the pleasures of egypt and it’s comfort as a prince.That’s why He was held in High regard by God,who himself gives Testimony about HIM.so chosing to please GOD like Moses and acting according to HIS WILL,will lead us to Eternity not condemnation
3.AARON:Aaron was Chosen by God to assist Moses and also He was chosen as the First “Highest Priest” of Israel.But in Exodus chapter 32 we find that When Moses was in the mount,delayed to come down the people went to Aaron(the temporary leader) and asked Him to Make Gods for them to lead them.And Aaron heeded to their request and to please the people,he collected all the gold earrings from the people and made a molten calf for them.(Exodus 32:4) and in subsequent verses we find that Aaron built a altar and proclaimed a FEAST too.
As we read the subsequent verses we find the consequences happened and finally God telling the judgement in Exodus 32:33-34.All that could’ve been avoided had Aaron Chose to stand FIRM to please GOD ,rather than pleasing people.
so,Miriam Chose to please Herself,she got leprosy as a reward,Aaron Chose to please people.Again the consequences was worse and Judgement of GOD followed,But Moses Chose to Please God and was regarded in Higher esteem by GOD.
So which way are we gonna chose today..The way of Miriam’s,Aaron’s to eventually suffer ?? or the Way of Moses to please God and receive Eternity??…
